Make an informed choice

Questions about hair removal for trans people are welcome.

Hair removal is a personal choice. Not every trans person wants hair removal or plans surgery.

What does permanent hair removal mean?

The phrase covers different methods. Laser produces permanent hair reduction and some regrowth can occur. Electrolysis treats individual follicles and can reach light hair. No method guarantees complete hairlessness.

How many sessions will I need?

Several sessions are usual because laser mainly affects hair in an active growth phase. A responsible estimate depends on the area, hair and skin type, and response.

Laser or electrolysis for facial hair?

Laser is particularly suited to pigmented hair and is a good place to start for many people. White, grey or very light hair usually responds poorly; remaining individual hairs can then be treated with electrolysis. We do not provide electrolysis ourselves, but we are happy to refer you to a trusted partner studio.

Does hormone therapy change facial or body hair?

Feminising hormone therapy may make body hair finer or slower growing, while established facial hair often changes much less. An individual assessment shows which areas may benefit from additional treatment.

Can I start laser before or during hormone therapy?

Yes. Hormone therapy is not automatically an exclusion. Depending on your skin, hair and health, laser can begin before or during hormone therapy. We discuss relevant medication and changes confidentially.

Should I shave before laser treatment?

Do not wax, pluck or epilate before laser because the follicle is needed for treatment. We will tell you when to shave based on your skin and treatment area.

Can laser treat darker skin?

Our three-wavelength diode laser is designed for Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI. Suitable settings are chosen individually according to skin, hair and treatment area.

Does treatment hurt?

Sensation ranges from warmth to brief sharp impulses and varies by area and person. We discuss comfort options, work gradually and pause whenever needed.

Can I have intimate-area laser without having had surgery?

Yes. You do not need to have had gender-affirming surgery or explain your body. We treat you without judgement, announce every step and work only on areas you explicitly choose.

How much does laser hair removal cost for trans and queer people?

Pricing is based on the selected zone. Multi-zone discounts apply, and from five zones we create an individual quote. Current individual prices are listed on our price page.

Do I need hair removal before vaginoplasty?

Permanent hair removal may be required when hair-bearing skin is used for the vaginal canal. Requirements vary by clinic and technique. Start only after receiving written instructions from the surgical team.

Which area is treated before phalloplasty?

The part of the donor site used for the urethra may be particularly important. It is not automatically the entire forearm or thigh. The surgical team defines the exact area.

How long does pre-operative hair removal take?

Laser works step by step across several growth phases. Starting early helps it fit into surgical preparation; the individual timeline depends on the area, hair, skin response and surgical-team requirements.

Will German health insurance cover the cost?

Possible coverage must be clarified individually before treatment. Ask your insurer which documents, methods and providers it accepts.

What happens at the first consultation?

We discuss your goals, skin and hair, relevant medication, possible areas, realistic limits and preparation. A patch test may be useful; you are under no obligation to book treatment afterwards.
